Fight Against Domestic Violence
Domestic violence is an issue that affects more than 10 million victims annually. It is prevalent in every community, and effects all people regardless of gender, ethnicity, religious affiliation, age, or socio-economic status. The effects of domestic violence on children can be devastating. Children exposed to domestic violence often experience fear of harm and abandonment, stress, anxiety, excessive worry, shame, and emotional distancing. They are more likely than their peers to experience a wide-range of difficulties from low self-worth, withdrawal, poor sibling, peer, and social relationships. Studies further conclude that children exposed to domestic violence show evidence of much higher rates of pro-violence attitudes, rigid stereotypical gender beliefs involving male privilege, animal abuse, bullying, assault, property destruction, and substance abuse.
Penelope House
Carlisle Medical supports the efforts of Penelope House through annual raffles and on-going fundraising initiatives to give aid, shelter, and protection to mothers and their children. Together, we are working to end domestic violence and provide a means for a fresh start to families in crisis.
