Recall Alert – Perrigo Albuterol Inhaler
A voluntary recall has been issued for all unexpired albuterol sulfate inhalation aerosol manufactured by Catalent Pharma Solutions distributed by Perrigo Pharmaceutical Company. The recall is to the retail level and due to inhalers clogging and resulting in patients not receiving enough or any medication. The company received several thousand complaints regarding this product clogging and failure to dispense medication. Albuterol inhalers are available through other manufacturers.
The FDA is advising patients to continue using the inhaler they have on hand, as needed and as directed by their physician, immediately seek emergency care if needed, have extra inhalers or alternative treatment available in case of malfunction, and contact their health care professional with questions.
